What is Sweet Adeline's International

Sweet Adeline's is an international organization of women whose purpose is to teach and perform the American folk art of four-part harmony, barbershop style, and to encourage universal appreciation of the tradition of that music. It is a non-profit corporation, founded in 1947 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where its International headquarters is located. It has grown to 30,000 members of more than 610 choruses located in every state and in many Canadian provinces, as well as in the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands, Japan, the Republic of Panama, New Zealand and Australia.

The worldwide organization is divided into 30 regions, which participate in regional competitions every spring, with each regional winner participating in an international competition in the fall.

Barbershop is as American as apple pie! Although no one is quite certain just how or when it all began, there is no doubt that it is an important part of our musical heritage.

What is El Paso Sungold Chorus?
GOOD MUSIC! GOOD FUN! GOOD ENTERTAINMENT!

We are El Paso's chapter of Sweet Adeline International. We practice under the expert direction of Lanny Desautels (the most patient director you will ever meet) every Monday at All Saints Church hall at 3500 McRae (near Montana-see map) and we perform regularly throughout the year in nursing homes, churches, schools parties and on stage. Call Us!

Who are these women?

They are your neighbors... your sister, your daughter, your grandma, your pharmacist, your teacher, your bank clerk - women bonded by the common joy of singing and the opportunity to step out of their daily lives and into the role of performers. You are never too young or too old. If you like to sing... we can teach you how to harmonize barbershop style!

Love to sing? Come visit our chorus! You may find our style of singing is just the creative outlet you have needed!
